Review of VS Super Mario Bros VS Super Mario Bros is an arcade conversion of the NES classic Super Mario Bros. It's similar, with the key difference that some of the levels have slight changes and some levels have been entirely replaced with more difficult variants, some of which would later appear in the japanese version of Super Mario Bros 2. It controls the exact same but I do find that the more difficult levels being mixed in with the usual fare means there are jarring spikes in difficulty. It definitely looks the part and I would say it even looks better than that NES version, the colours are more bold and saturated which I think looks nice. The music is also the exact same. I cheated my way through this game using save states and found finishing the game does not provide the option to play through a more difficult variation like in the NES original, but I think this version is challenging enough.
